Last Friday Gary Grant of GRC and Ben Kimpton of ECL provided an in depth presentation on the results of the Green Infrastructure Audit for the London Bridge area. This is includes a review of what current buildings could potentially take a green roof. GRC is working on 8 green infrastructure audits in London. This builds on their 10 year experience of working on green roofs and the successful Victoria BID audit in 2010 with LUC.

The breakfast event allowed GRC to present the philosophy behind Green Infrastructure and green roofs – what we prefer to call Ecosystem Services in Urban Areas. Once all the projects are complete London will have a much better idea of what is possible in terms of ecosystem services interventions. The vast majority of the interventions will be at roof level and GRC’s experience knowledge will have been key in identifying what areas of the existing building stock in the Capital can be green roofed.
Gary Grant, one of GRC’s lead consultants has a long history of trying to get the construction industry to embrace green infrastructure. He has, in the past work on the Olympic Project and with Dusty Gedge, provides training courses on Ecosystem Services, Green roofs and green walls throughout the UK.
GRC are involved in designing many green roof retrofit projects and have been responsible in part to many of the exemplar green roofs in the UK.
